Former rugby league star Jarryd Hayne looked like he was destined to be little more than a footnote to the San Francisco 49ers season. The Australian signed on and many viewed it as an outside punt from the 49ers. Get him in, see what he's like and he'll more than likely head back to where he came from before too long.
However, we're now two weeks into pre-season and Hayne is really beginning to make a name for himself. He introduced himself to the American public last week and now he's turned in another star showing during his side's 23-6 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Judging by the reaction Hayne is getting in the NFL, it's looking increasingly likely that he may actually play an important part in the 49ers season.
Now the only thing we're wondering is if it's too late for Ronan O'Gara to make it as a kicker?
