Belfast boxer TJ Waite defeated Jason McKay by split decision in the 52KG semi-final of the National Elite Championships in Dublin tonight. Waite showed incomparable bravery in fighting after his mother tragically passed away earlier today.

Waite won the Ulster Elite Flyweight title in Belfast last month, defeating Ben Nelson in an unanimous decision. Here he is being announced as winner tonight:
