With Andy Lee and Carl Frampton both holding world titles at the moment, Irish professional boxing really is riding the crest of a wave. As such, it's only right that the country is able to get fully on board with two world class athletes and that's exactly what's happening.
Andy Lee vs Billy Joe Saunders has already been confirmed for Thomond Park in September and now confirmation has come that Frampton's upcoming defence of his IBF World Super Bantamweight title against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr will be shown on Irish television.

The fight was first confirmed for ITV but UTV Ireland have since stated that it will also be available, free to air, to Irish viewers. The bout takes place from 9.45 pm on July 18th and the Belfast man's trainer Barry McGuigan was delighted with the news that fans would get a chacne to see his man in action once more.
This is excellent news that Carl Frampton is defending his World Title live on primetime television.
Frampton has all the ingredients needed to become the leading figure in British and Irish boxing; he is a world-class boxer with a brilliant personality who has a fanatical fan base from all over the UK and Ireland.
Alejandro Gonzalez Jr is a hungry and dangerous young Mexican fighter who will be travelling to El Paso, Texas to rip that belt from Frampton. This is going to be a cracking contest for the millions of fans tuning in on both sides of the Atlantic.
Frampton's last defence against Chris Avalos attracted a peak viewership of 200,000 Irish viewers and UTV Ireland will be hoping Frampton will provide a similar attraction once again.
