Another Irish International Is Heading For The League Of Ireland

Drogheda United are sitting in eighth place in the Premier Division, probably unlikely to go down but heading for a drearily unspectacular mid-table finish at best.

Their supporters received a pick-me-up tonight with the news that former Irish international Keith Treacy, who was part of the Burnley squad that climbed into the Premier League in the 2013-14 season, has signed for the club.

The news was broken on Soccer Republic tonight by Darragh Maloney. At 26, Treacy is presumably not looking to wind down his career in a familiar location.

He earned six Irish caps in 2010 and 2011, featuring in a number of friendlies against the likes of Argentina and Croatia and starring in the 5-0 hammering of Norn Iron in the sadly unloved 2011 Celtic Nations Cup (only Ireland's second trophy in senior international football)...
