Brendan Rodgers Won't Want To Hear The Latest News Coming Out Of Germany

Crunch summer talks with Liverpool's owners ensured that everyone knew this was Brendan Rodgers' last chance. Another failed campaign would be one too many and it's looking increasingly likely that the Liverpool boss is reaching breaking point.

A penalty shoot-out win over Carlisle was far from the result Rodgers needed to keep the wolves from the door for a few more weeks. Every game is beginning to feel like do or die and once that kicks in around a club it's very difficult for any manager to reverse it.

Yesterday brought news that Carlo Ancelotti was supposedly being contacted about his interest in taking over from the Antrim man. That was quickly denied by Liverpool but the speculation was enough to get fans thinking and it seems Rodgers' fans are decreasing by the day.

While Ancelotti would be an interesting choice, the man Liverpool fans have been championing for months is Jurgen Klopp. However, it seemed that window may have closed when the former Dortmund manager decided to take a self-imposed career break.

Soundings from Germany today suggest that that sabbatical may not be as set in stone as was once thought.

Whether Liverpool are ready to cut ties with Rodgers is not entirely clear but everything seems to be going against the former Swansea boss and Saturday game at home to Aston Villa could yet be the final nail in the coffin.
