Some Disappointing Transfer News For Liverpool Fans This Afternoon

Here's your Moderately Disappointing Liverpool Transfer Story Of The Day™. Liverpool have missed out on the signing of Sevilla and Colombia frontman Carlos Bacca, after it was announced the Europa League goal machine will join AC Milan, subject to a medical.

It's hard to know Liverpool fans are supposed to react to such news; on the one hand, Bacca's goals to game ratio in Spain is phenomenal. But on the other hand, he has never started ahead of River Plate's Teó Guttierrez in José Pékerman's Colombia side and, at 28, it seems unlikely the speedy Colombian will ever reach the levels of Luis Suarez, or even '2008 Torres.'

Anyway, I'm sure Brendan Rodgers will openly deny they had any interest in Bacca and we can all continue to pretend that the transer window is vicarious consumerism at its worst, before refreshing Twitter every 1.6 seconds on Deadline Day.

An official statement from Sevilla read:

Sevilla have reached an agreement with AC Milan for the transfer of Carlos Bacca, pending the player's medical that will take place in the next few days.

The Colombian striker leaves after a successful spell at the Nervion club in which he won two Europa League titles and scored 49 goals in 108 games, with 20 of those propelling Sevilla to fifth place in La Liga last season.

Despite recent setbacks in their pursuits of both Geoffrey Kondogbia and Jackson Martinez, Milan are keen to rebuild under recently appointed coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, and it is believed they will pay Bacca's €30m release clause.
