'Chelsea Have No History': Frustrated Jamie Carragher Rings Talksport To Give Out

Jamie Carragher's sweet, sweet buzz was wrecked last night after a mere ten minutes of listening to the Chelsea and Man United loving presenters on Talksport.

In Jamie's view, they didn't allow Liverpool fans enough space to bask in the afterglow of the night's events, instead leaping in with churlish comments about their continued failure in the League.

He fired off this frustrated tweet. The target was one of the presenters of Sports Bar, former Chelsea player and ardent Chelsea fan, Jason Cundy.

Opportunistically, the Talksport boys (Cundy presents the show with Andy Goldstein) phoned him up.

It quickly degenerated into a Liverpool-Chelsea pissing contest, complete with references to one team's history or lack thereof and another team's propensity for living in the history books.

I couldn't listen to any more. I was in the car on the way home. I was high as a kite and Cundy is trying to bring me down.

Liverpool have just had one of their greatest European nights. Everyone's top of the world. You're talking about Liverpool not winning Leagues, how bad they were in the first half, living in the past... That's not the story. I know you don't like Liverpool.

There is a rivalry between Liverpool and Chelsea and that's fine. It's not the night for that. And I thought you just went on about it too much. And you were goading Liverpool fans when it their time to celebrate.

When Cundy asserted that Liverpool fans were living in the past by continually harking back to winning the European Cup five times, Carragher defended the practice of leaning on history in pub debates.

Doesn't everyone do that (live off history), Chelsea haven't got any so it's difficult for them.

It eventually settled into a more reasonable conversation about Liverpool's prospects.

All agreed that they hated each other's teams. Carragher said he was 'gutted' when Chelsea won the Champions League final in 2012 and told Goldstein he was 'devastated' \(Jaysus) when Marcus Rashford curled one in the corner against West Ham on Wednesday.

At the risk of setting the dogs on him, Cundy has spoken with unabashed disdain about Liverpool and the fans on social media in the past.
