One That Got Away From Ireland May Not Be Gone After All

It could very well be the next Jack Grealish tussle between Ireland and England - but both the FA and the FAI will be hoping that it's handled better. Arsenal youngster Dan Crowley has played for both countries in the underage set-up, and both Roy Hodgson and Martin O'Neill are trying to entice him to commit to their country.

In an attempt to avoid another Grealish debacle, O'Neill will have a face-to-face meeting with Crowley in an attempt to persuade him back to the boys in green. Crowley played U-16 and U-17 for Ireland before switching his allegiance to his country of birth. It had been reported that Crowley had decided to stay with England - but O'Neill will be stepping up his efforts to bring Crowley back into the Irish fold.

The Arsenal youngster has been making a name for himself ever since the Gunners spent €500,000 to secure his services back in 2013. He spent time on loan with Barnsley this season before being recalled in January - where Barnsley boss Lee Johnson rated him as the best 18-year-old he's ever seen.

Ireland U-21 boss Noel King previously said that he wouldn't go chasing after youngsters who are eligible for other countries after the Jack Grealish saga but it seems that Martin O'Neill isn't of the same mind when it comes to Crowley.

It's highly unlikely that Crowley will play any part in Euro 2016 - but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that O'Neill drafts him into the senior squad for May's friendlies against Holland and Belarus.
