One of the many badly-kept secrets has become official as Colombian striker Radamel Falcao is staying in the Premier League next season. Champions Chelsea agreed a deal with Monaco to take the striker on loan for next season.

After losing to Argentina on penalties, Falcao will have some time off before joining up with his new Chelsea team-mates on their pre-season tour of North America that starts with the fixture against the New York Red Bulls on the 23rd of July. Falcao's father Radamel Garcia suggests that he will report to Chelsea's base in Montreal on the 19th or 20th of July as he confirmed the deal on Colombian television channel Caracol TV.

The deal is believed to have a £4 million loan fee that includes an option to make it permanent next season.

It's likely that Falcao will be the back-up to Diego Costa at Chelsea as he looks to recover his form pre 2014 when he was one of the most feared strikers in Europe when he scored 70 goals in 91 games for Athletico Madrid before a serious knee injury halted his momentum. He hasn't been the same player since, and only managed four goals in 29 games for Manchester United last season.

It's unclear how this affects the future of Chelsea striker Loic Remy after he expressed annoyance that Chelsea were being linked to another striker.
