EA Sports are releasing their top 50 players in the game this year, and it all kicks off today with the first set of players' ratings as they countdown from #50 to #41.

FIFA ratings are always a good taking point, as fans wish to see how the heads at EA Sports have evaluated their favourite players, so let's dive right in.

#50 - Angel Di Maria - PSG

Angel Di Maria's troubled time at Manchester United has cost him one point in his overall rating. A very disappointing signing, Di Maria never looked comfortable at Old Trafford but has already started well in Paris with a fantastic assist on his debut.

#49 - Petr Čech - Arsenal

Arsenal fans will no doubt be delighted to finally have a decent keeper to use in FIFA after years with the likes of Almunia, Fabianski, and Szczesny in between the sticks. His rating stays the same as FIFA 15, which is again good news for Arsenal fans as he was a monster in the game last year.

#48 - Edinson Cavani - PSG

Another who has dropped one overall rating point from last year, Cavani is a player who splits opinion. While his showing at Copa America left a lot to be desired, he has been a consistent goal-getter for PSG despite arguably not playing his best football.

#47 - Vincent Kompany - Man City

A good indicator that these ratings were decided before the season kicked-off is big Vinny Kompany, as despite his fantastic start to the new Premier League season, the Belgium and Man City captain has dropped one overall rating point. We still expect him to be absolutely dominant despite a less than ideal pace rating of 69.

#46 - David Alaba - Bayern Munich

Recommended

EA Sports have made a point of finally giving full-backs decent overall ratings and a perfect example of this is the David Alaba, who has jumped three overall rating points to 85.

#45 - Diego Godin -Atletico Madrid

Atletico captain Diego Godin has gone up one overall rating point despite a his team falling out of the title picture in Spain last year. A small bump in pace makes him on of the most attractive defenders in La Liga for FIFA players.

#44 - John Terry - Chelsea

Another indicator that these ratings were made before the season kicked-off is John Terry, who has a two point jump in overall rating despite it looking like his Chelsea career may be over. He was outstanding last year, but already it looks like Mourinho wants to replace his club captain.

#43 - Naldo - Wolfsburg

Brazilian centre back Naldo had a cracking campaign for Wolfsburg last year, helping them into the Champions League and securing himself a spot in the Bundesliga team of the year. A justified four point overall rating bump, but he was already very good on FIFA 15 so now he should be one of the better defenders around.

#42 - Yaya Toure - Man City

He's taken a one point overall rating drop, but Yaya will still be one of the best players to use in FIFA because of those splendidly rounded stats. No worries here, despite the rating being a tad low.

#41 - Santi Cazorla - Arsenal

A one point stat boost isn't the main talking point here, but rather a position change to CAM. This means for Ultimate Team players that Santi will be far more usable, as on FIFA 15 his position as a winger made him awkward to fit into a squad. Cazorla looks like a very fun player to use already.
