It's a done deal. Jurgen Klopp will more than likely arrive on Merseyside on Thursday with the club putting together plans to unveil the 48 year old as their new manager on Friday. Klopp will take over on a three year deal and Liverpool fans everywhere will be delighted.
And rightly so. He's the kind of manager who fans wanted to take over from Rafa Benitez. Instead, they got Roy Hodgson. Kenny Dalglish soon came in to steady the ship and although that went well for a few months, it was once again time to go looking for a more permanent replacement.
FSG went down the up and coming route and fans were sceptical from the start. Rodgers was always on a loser. He simply didn't have the cache that fans were looking for so that's where the man who made the Bundesliga sexy again comes in.
In disrupting the Bayern monopoly Klopp did something astonishing but eventually the money became too much of an issue. Gotze and Lewandowski left for the Bavarians and it was time for Klopp to take a break. And many in Germany assumed that it was a break that would just so happen to coincide with the final year of Pep Guardiola's contract.
Despite his apparent hatred of Bayern, he was still tipped to take over when Guardiola's contract ends in 2016. However, it seems that a change in that plan may be the reason Liverpool have been able to swoop in disrupt his year long sabbatical.
The Telegraph are reporting that Klopp's reluctance to wait until January to find out Bayern's plans meant he couldn't let the Liverpool opportunity pass him by. Bayern were reportedly willing to accept Guardiola's intention to see out his contract with Klopp being lined up.
However, Bayern have decided to go all out over the past couple of months to convince the Catalan boss to stay on at the Allianz Arena. As things stand, they have let it be known that they'll wait until January before giving up and looking elsewhere.
That change of tact has allowed Liverpool to make their move and you have to think that the Premier League will be all the better for it.
