It's more than a month since Harry Arter made an appearance for Bournemouth.

The midfielder picked up an Achilles strain during a loss to Spurs on March 20th which meant he was unable to take part in Ireland's Euro 2016 warm-up friendlies against Slovakia and Switzerland.

The injury has also kept him out of action for his club.

Despite not being fit to take part in the games against the Swiss and the Slovaks, Arter is still seen as a viable candidate to be part of Martin O'Neill's 23-man squad which travels to France this summer.

Speaking to Bournemouth's club website on Friday, manager Eddie Howe had both good and bad news for O'Neill.

The bad: Arter's injury troubles are still on-going.

The good: Howe says he will take 'no risks' with the player as the Premier League season comes to its conclusion.

Harry Arter has improved, but his injury is a niggly one, we have to protect his long-term future.

It's been difficult for Harry, he wants to play - as they all do.

He missed pre-season and now the tail end of the campaign, we hope that he's fit beyond this season and of course the summer is a big one for him, but we'll wait to see what happens and take no risks.
