He's 60, and he's going to France.

Dick Redmond won the hearts of the internet on Monday night when he appeared in the middle of Ireland's Euro 2016 qualification celebrations wearing a superman costume and getting showered with beer.

It's rare that a kitman gets interviewed by a national newspaper, but in the wake of Monday's celebrations it simply had to be done, and speaking to Independent.ie, Dick revealed some of the superstitions that the players insist upon before a match.

If Robbie's playing I put the armband on him at the very last second before he leaves the dressingroom and he's always call for me to put it on," he said. I think it started when I put it on one day and we won the game and ever since then it's like a superstition with him.

Darren Randolph, the body armour he wore on Friday, I had to put a mark on it, get it laundered and give it back to him on Monday. The same piece.

They all have their rituals, some players sit down and listen to their music while everything is buzzing around them and they get in the zone and it takes off from there.

Aiden McGeady will have his music on or David Meyler will have his music on. They'd have all the latest music on whereas we'd have the Drifters on. It's not the BOOM BOOM BOOM music anymore, it's the latest stuff.

We were kind of hoping to hear that Jon Walters gets Glenn Whelan to deck him in the face as hard as he can to get him pumped up, but that'll do.

Hopefully Dick has the Superman cape out for more celebrations in France next summer.
