Man City Offer James Milner Staggering Wages To Keep Him Away From Liverpool

After being badly stung with the Mario Balotelli move late in the transfer window last year, it seems Liverpool may have learned their lesson. An offer has already been made for Man United target Nathaniel Clyne, while it seems increasingly likely that James Milner will be brought in on a free transfer from Man City.

A man of many talents, Milner's expected arrival is not exactly being treated with glee by too many Liverpool fans. A jack of all trades, a master of none seems to be the given wisdom but that is very unfair, particularly when you consider how much Man City want to keep him.

Guaranteed first team football at Anfield may be tempting the 29 year old but City are pulling out their old tricks and are said to have made a final offer of £165,000 a week for Milner to extend his deal according to the Manchester Evening News.

That is a truly staggering amount of money for someone who has been mostly used as a squad player during his time in Manchester. However, it just goes to show how highly he is valued.

That may have something to do with City's continuing difficulty to fulfil the home-grown quota for the Champions League, but nonetheless it would be very refreshing to see Milner turn that down in return for more playing time at Anfield.
