Much has been made about how much money both Brendan Rodgers and Louis van Gaal have spent in their times in charge of their teams.

Neither have been at their clubs long, with van Gaal entering his second season, and Rodgers has been their for three years. Both have spent extraordinary amounts of money bringing in players like Memphis Depay, Nathaniel Clyne, Morgan Schneiderlein, and Christian Benteke.

On the face of it, they are two very talented teams. But there is only six players from the 22 who started that game.

The likes of Shinji Kagawa, Andre Wisdom, Danny Welbeck, and Glen Johnson have been long gone; while others still mourn the departures of Robin van Persire, Luis Suarez, Nemanja Vidic, and Steven Gerrard.
