Some potentially very big news is coming out of Spain this morning. The Guardian have picked up a report that originated on Spanish radio station Cadena COPE which is claiming that Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is set to walk away from the club in order to take over as Manchester City manager at the end of the season.

Guardiola is in the final year of a three year contract with Bayern Munich, and is yet to open negotiations with the club over a new deal. There had been speculation that the former Barca manager was ready to stick around in Germany for one more year, but now reports are claiming that he has already decided that a change of scenery is needed.

Pep Guardiola will leave Bayern Munich at the end of this season and will train Manchester City next season.

Guardiola has decided on a change of scenery. He considers his time in Germany will end on 30 June after three seasons and, therefore, fulfil one of his wishes: to coach in England.

The report even goes as far as to suggest that Carlo Ancelotti is in line to replace Pep at Bayern, and that Manuel Pellegrini will be relieved of his duties at the end of this season.

Guardiola has made it clear that he would like to eventually manage in England before. In the book 'Pep Confidential' written by Martí Perarnau who shadowed the manager during his first season at Bayern, Pep admitted he felt a special attraction to Old Trafford and could see himself in charge of United one day. However, due to his strong relationship with Txiki Begiristain, Man City's Director of Football whom he worked with at Barcelona, it appears as though he may opt for the blue side of Manchester.

Bayern’s chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, was adamant that they would have a decision on Pep's future by the end of 2015, and suggested that talks would take place after the match with Hannover 96 on December 19th as the Bundesliga enters it's winter break, so we will wait and see what comes from that.

If true it would be absolutely huge for the Premier League, and the thought of not only the tactical changes he would bring, but the pulling power in terms of top talent, considering the financial backing he will have at City make it a little bit frightening for fans of other clubs.
