It looks like Manchester United are serious in their pursuit of Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos.

The Old Trafford club have submitted a second bid for the World Cup winner. The opening bid of £32 million was swiftly rejected, but now United have made an increased offer of £42.5 million (€60million).

It's still not clear is Ramos is using United's interest in an attempt to get a new contract at the Bernabeu, but United look confident that they can capture their target.

It's noticeable that there is no mention of David de Gea in the bid. It could be that Real Madrid will be more likely to accept a bid for Ramos if they secure their main target, but United seem determined to keep the young goalkeeper and risk letting him leave for nothing next year.
