The Reason Why Adebayor Rejected A Move To Aston Villa Is Appropriately Ridiculous

Emmanuel Adebayor has had a seriously turbulent few months. The Spurs striker was told to find a new club as it became perfectly clear that Mauricio Pochettino had no place for him in his plans, so the Togolese striker was searching for the perfect fit while airing out his increasingly bizarre family problems on Facebook.

As transfer deadline day came and went, it was surprising how little interest there appeared to be in Adebayor, surprising that is until you hear why he rejected a move to Aston Villa earlier in the window.

Telegraph writer Matt Law reveals how Tim Sherwood was left frustrated as after agreeing a deal and even posing for pictures in the Aston Villa shirt, Adebayor held off on signing with the club for one ridiculous reason:

The 31-year-old had been close to joining Aston Villa at the end of July, but stunned Villa officials when, having completed a medical and posed for pictures in the club’s shirt, he stalled on the deal by claiming that he wanted a sign from God that it would be the correct move.

Adebayor is understood to have then consulted his pastor over the prospect of moving to the Midlands before finally deciding against the switch, much to the frustration of Villa manager Tim Sherwood.

Wow.

Surely a club offering him a chance to play Premier League football despite what had been going on was sign enough?

Not for Emmanuel Adebayor. Great advice from his pastor as well, as the striker is unlikely to see any sort of playing time at Spurs.
