Van Gaal's Clearout Continues As Another Of Fergie's Signings Heads For The Exit

Deadwood. If David Moyes was going to be really honest about the squad that he took over from Alex Ferguson, you'd have to think that word would make an appearance somewhere. While the Real Sociedad boss was tasked with respecting his fellow Scotsman's legacy and a large part of that meant taking Fergie's last title winning side and filling it out to create yet another title winning side.

As we all know it didn't quite work out like that and for all the stick that Moyes got, it's fair to say that a large part of that was as a result of the players that were left at his disposal. Sure, Fergie moulded them into a title winning side but his magic was gone and it's unlikely anyone could have done the same the following season.

While Moyes was all to aware of respecting Fergie's team, Louis Van Gaal simply doesn't have that problem. Slowly but surely a team is being built in his image and after the departures of the likes of Cleverley, Nani and Van Persie, now it's Rafael's turn with the Brazilian arriving in Lyon today to complete a £2.1 million move to the French side.

Under Ferguson, there were times when Rafael looked like he would develop into the complete full back that every team in world football is crying out for. However, despite his moments, his development stagnated and since Van Gaal's arrival, the 25 year old simply hasn't had a look in.

The Times are reporting that he'll sign a four year deal with Lyon in the coming days and, even though he may not be wanted at Old Trafford anymore, that fee does seem to be quite low as quite a few Man United fans have pointed out.
