The strange paradox of Louis Van Gaal continues. While his Manchester United side have been turgid to watch this season, Van Gaal has proved to be an arch-entertainer. First, there was the fundamentally hilarious dive on the sideline against Arsenal to accentuate the antics of Arsenal players, and now there is this.
Marouane Fellaini was fortunate to escape a red card against Leicester City today, as he elbowed Robert Huth in the face after the defender had tugged at his hair. Rather than take the well-rehearsed and rather boring option of claiming he did not see it, Van Gaal justified Fellaini's actions by saying that it was a natural response. To illustrate his point, he tugged at the hair of Sky's Patrick Davidson, saying that hair pulling was only permissible in the world of 'sex masochism':

We were both impressed and perturbed by the violence in which Van Gaal said 'masochism'.

Davidson did not elbow in retaliation, which perhaps undermined Van Gaal's point.
This entire incident came a couple of months after Van Gaal asked his United side to be 'horny'. We will miss him when he has gone.
