We Have Stumbled Upon The Most Ridiculous Sacking Rumour In Football History

No way this is happening. There is just no way. Football is the ficklest industry in the world but there is just no chance that Pep Guardiola is being sacked by Bayern Munich before the end of the season.

17 wins out of 20 in the Bundesliga is an absurdly good return that has seen Bayern open a five-point lead over rivals Borussia Dortmund and they even have a game in hand to come.

They also moved into the semi-finals of the German Cup after routing VFL Bochum 3-0 away last week.

But according to one English paper, if Bayern are knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus in the last 16, the German club's bosses might opt to terminate Guardiola's contract early.

Apparently, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Uli Hoeness and Matthias Sammer are also annoyed that Guardiola publicly announced that he was joining a European rival during the season.

From the Daily Express:

"The Champions League is the litmus test for anyone connected with the Bavarian giants and the three former German internationals who effectively run the club are worried that Guardiola’s mind is already elsewhere.

Bayern face a tough round of 16 clash with Italian champions Juventus and those close to the club believe that failure to reach the quarter-finals could see Guardiola make an earlier than planned exit."

Would the the Bayern braintrust really move on from Guardiola? Granted, being dumped out of the Champions League by Juventus would be a disastrous result from the club but the Spaniard has almost achieved perfection on a domestic level.

And the trio in charge at Bayern might well be angry that Guardiola decided to make the Man City news public before the end of the season but they too announced a big appointment by revealing that Carlo Ancelotti is to be Pep's successor.

And after all, the report comes from the Daily Express so do with that what you will.

But god, how great would it be if Bayern advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals and drew Man City?
