Hurling was once again showcased to the USA on Sunday evening as iconic baseball stadium Fenway Park played host to the AIG Fenway Hurling Classic between Galway and Dubling.

It was a celebration of Irish heritage, but there were many wonderfully American Americanisms on display throughout, and we've rounded up the best for you here:

Yardage Markings

"He's at the 40, the 30, the 20... He could go all the way!"

An American football field complete with endzones and artwork in the middle of the pitch. You can taste the freedom.

A Shot-Clock

To keep the action moving a shot-clock was introduced, sadly we didn't get to see if there was an audible "BUZZ" when it elapsed, for what could have been hurling's first ever "buzzer-beater".

We also learned that the shot-clock gets reset for schemozzles.

Short Corners?

This was mad. Instead of a 65, the Fenway Classic featured what looked like a short-corner from hockey.

This one divided opinion amongst those watching from home, but they loved in it Fenway. It certainly was more dramatic than usual.

The extra opportunity to get beers on board surely appreciated by all. If it's not four quarters they just don't want to know over there. Unless they are innings, of course.

Not just the jumbro-tron in the stadium, which was increidbly American, but the one on TV too, just look at it:
