Clare are into their first ever All-Ireland football quarter-final after a six point win against Roscommon in Salthill.

After 77 minutes at Pearse Stadium - there were seven minutes of added time - the scoreboard read: 2-12 to 1-9.

Both of Clare's goals came in the opening 35 minutes. The first from David Tubridy and the second from Jamie Malone.

There was controversy in the second half as multiple players left the pitch following disciplinary action by Padraig Hughes.

Clare finished the game with 14 players and Roscommon 13.

Clare's Cathal O'Connor received a straight red early in second half for a high tackle - it was contentious decision. Hughes later handed out a yellow card for an almost identical offence.

Both Sean Mullooly and David Murray were sent off for Roscommon - the latter due to dual star Podge Collins 'using a bit of know how'.

In particular, Mayo fans wondered if Collins would receive similar criticism to that of Aidan O'Shea following the qualifier against Fermanagh a fortnight ago.
