There's no doubt it has been the go-to topic for GAA scandal this week. Davy Fitz may have started off the week in the limelight but Joe Brolly's 'ugly' jibe at Marty Morrissey has snowballed.

RTÉ have had their say, the GAA President has had his say and now Brolly himself has expanded upon his initial 'apology'.

The Derry pundit used his column in today's Gaelic Life to offer up a further explanation of the matter saying that he is 'still cringing about it'.

Myself and Tomas O’Se had been having a laugh with stewards and supporters outside just before we went on air. All jokes and craic.

Problem is that when we went on air a few minutes later, it wasn’t the Oliver Callan Show, but the Sunday Game.

Brolly went on to say that although Morrissey accepted the apology, he could tell it had hurt him.

Marty Morrissey is a decent, good humoured man. When I apologised to him he was quick to accept it. But there is no doubt he was hurt. It was a very poor thing to say and I am still cringing about it as I write this.

There's no doubt Brolly accepts that he has done wrong and it will be interesting to see if this incident has an effect on his outspoken punditry from now on.
