It is reassuring to know that the esteemed individuals that prowl the halls of Leinster House aren't solely preoccupied with running the country brilliantly.

They are also engaged in truly vital activities, like doctoring Colm Parkinson's wikipedia page.

Via the Irish twitter page IrishGovEdits, it has been revealed that a man operating from the internet portal 137.191.227.58, which is located somewhere in Government Buildings, has been hard at work at altering the Wiki page of Ireland's foremost GAA pundit under 40.

Woolly's unauthorised biographer within Leinster House is eager to make public Parkinson's admiration for Messrs. John Scully and Shay Cummins.

We must confess that we are unfamiliar with the achievements of these two men, and Parkinson's reasons for idolising them.

The Oireachtas URL is very active in the realm of wikipedia editing. In truth, it is often a noble presence, undoing vandalism, correcting the record and cleaning up spelling mistakes.

However, it is not above mischief.

In December 2008, it was to the forefront in amending the wikipedia page of controversial Cork GAA Chief Frank Murphy.

Frank's Leinster House based critic felt that the sentence 'Murphy is regarded as an excellent Gaelic Games administrator' was somehow inadequate in conveying the man's essence and chose to add the phrase 'and a bollox' on to the end.

A later edit felt the need to put on record Murphy's fondness for cats, while leaving the earlier assertion that he was 'a bollox' in place.

And it appears that the wikipedia pages of former Laois footballers are not safe. They are under consistent assault from the Government Buildings URL.

Former Laois captain Kevin Fitzpatrick (like Parkinson, a Portlaoise man) has seen his life story rewritten by the Leinster House wikipedia page editor, making grandiose claims about his post-football career as a crime fighter and his prowess as a professional wrestler.
