Joseph Duffy Has Hit Back At Conor McGregor's Recent Criticism

Joseph Duffy was given the right to respond to Conor McGregor's recent tirade of insults on Ariel Helwani's MMA hour last night.

McGregor featured as a special guest for the 300th episode of the same show last week where he blasted Duffy for pretending to be Irish as well as accusing the Donegal born fighter of feeding off his success.

Duffy is well known for being the last person to defeat McGregor when he beat him after 38 seconds, but his career has somewhat stalled since the victory whilst McGregor has gone on to become arguably  the biggest name in the UFC.

Duffy was also singled out at the famous "red panty night" press conference by McGregor where he chose to stay quiet instead of responding to the interim champions comments.

When quizzed about the feud Duffy said it was simply an issue that didn't affect him.

To tell you the truth it's just not really my style, I'm not bothered about what Conor's thoughts are on things. I said before I was going to do what felt natural, and I felt I wasn't going to get a lot out of having a trash talk battle up there.

Duffy remained calm and laid back throughout the interview and further added;

My job is not to talk, it's to fight, he can talk all he wants if he likes, if it came down to the two of us in the octagon that would be a different story.

Duffy was also asked about McGregor's claims that he wasn't as Irish as he made himself out to be.

Nothing Conor says gets under my skin.If it was someone I cared about saying this then maybe. Conor's opinion doesn't matter to me it doesn't change the way I fight.

Helwani then quizzed "Irish Joe" on the possibility of the two fighters meeting once again.

I'm not sure it's something the UFC or Conor are interested in. Even myself, I'm just taking it one fight at a time at the minute.

I feel that fight would fill Croke Park. I believe I can take Conor out just as quickly, everyone has noted how much Conor has improved but so have I. I believe everything Conor does, I can beat him at, there's not I area  feel he can beat me.

Another man who had some choice words for McGregor was TJ Dillashaw, who has been in the headlines recently after he defected from Uriah Faber's Alpha Male gym.

McGregor labelled Dillashaw a "snake" for defecting from Faber and Dillashaw was keen to have his voice heard on the matter, suggesting that McGregor was a hypocrite for calling him a "snake" as The Notorious was himself a "traitor".

It’s actually kind of ridiculous for him to call me a snake or a traitor when I made a business decision. I feel like that’s Conor’s thing, making business decisions. It’s all about business, the fight business. I’m getting told I’m a snake because I made a business decision for my career. That’s just pretty hypocritical to me. Now you've got all these people believing what he says.

Dillashaw than branded McGregor a traitor to his country, which is exactly what McGregor accused Joe Duffy of being a week ago.

If I’m a traitor, then I think he is an even bigger traitor to his country. He’s representing Ireland, and he’s this big country man. And he lives in the United States now. He moved to Las Vegas. Why? It’s better for his career. It’s business. I hope everyone just understands I'm trying to stay on top and become the best MMA fighter possible.

Strong words from Dillashaw who seems sick of all the abuse coming at him for his decision. Watch this space for McGregor's inevitable return.
