As things stand, it's likely a toss-up between Kieran Behan, Analise Murphy and Cork's O'Donovan brothers as to who has been the stand-out Irish athlete(s) at Rio 2016.

The rowing duo, who hail from the tiny parish of Lisheen - near Skibbereen - in west Cork, captured the hearts of a nation late last week with what surely must go down as one of the most enjoyable post-event interviews in the history of Irish sport. And that's not even an exaggeration.

Paul and Gary O'Donovan return to action later on Thursday in the Olympic semi-final, and were the European champions to repeat some of their success from the previous round there's every chance the internet - and indeed the country - will spontaneously combust, such is the collective love for the likely lads from Skib.

Back in Ireland, their native rowing club's support has been extremely conspicuous on their Facebook page. Skibbereen Rowing Club are clearly immensely proud of their Olympians, and as such have edited together a wonderful video tribute to the brothers and their supremely popular coach Dominic Casey, entitled 'From Lisheen to Rio'. Check it out below.

And as if that wasn't enough to whet your appetite for the lads' return to action later today, Skib Rowing's various good-natured gags at the lads' expense are genuinely worth following the page for.
