"It was meant to be a 45- 50 min session. It took me 85 mins" wrote Brian O'Driscoll in a blog post on his website.

He was referring to what he calls his 'toughest weights session' of his rugby career.

When you look at the list, it's easy to agree with his assessment of the degree of difficulty.

The session took place in 2009 after O'Driscoll had returned from holidays following the Lions tour of South Africa.

He had played in the first two tests of that tour, both of which were victories for South Africa. He would sit out the final test due to a concussion sustained during the second game against the Springboks.

O'Driscoll's return to training with Leinster was interrupted by the need for corrective eye surgery. Upon realising that BOD would only have two days of training before having the leave again, Leinster strength and conditioning coach Chris Dennis scheduled a heavy session for the centre.

The sesssion consisted of 10 exercises with each exercise containing 100 reps. The isea was to get through the session as quickly as possible. Rest times were up to you. Set repetitions were also up to you. You could attack them in big chunks with more rest time or smaller efforts with greater speed.

It was meant to be a 45- 50 min session. It took me 85 mins.

By the 6th exercise I was doing 5&6 reprtitions at a go. By exercise 8 it was down to 3&4. The Plate Press &Extension was my last exercise & I must have finished it with 40 single reps.

Here's the full list of exercises.
