It's almost a sense of deja vu. Pat Lam has managed to entice another New Zealander to the Sportsgrounds. Last year, the westerners signed unknown openside flanker Nepia Fox-Matamua. No one in Ireland knew who he was, and he turned out to be Connacht's best player in the opening rounds of the season before a serious injury.

Now, Josh Rowland is the name that most Connacht fans won't have heard of. The back-three flier has played on the same team as Bundee Aki before - when the pair were part of Tana Umaga's Counties Manakau ITM Cup side.

Since then, Rowland has appeared for the Ireland Sevens team thanks to his Irish granny - starring in the victorious Rugby Europe Sevens Trophy earlier in July.

He'll add to Connacht's stocked back three options - with new Ireland caps Tiernan O'Halloran and Matt Healy joined by Niyi Adeolokun, Danie Poolman, Darragh Leader, Ciaran Gaffney, and new signing Cian Kelleher.
