It really will be the end of an era in Limerick next season. After the news that Munster second row legend Paul O'Connell has been released from his contract to join Toulon, it appears his long time locking partner is about to join him overseas.
The Irish Examiner is reporting that Donnacha O'Callaghan is set to be released from the final year of his contract, and is about to join up with an overseas club.
O'Callaghan has spent 17 years playing for Munster, and will leaves as the record appearance holder with the province with 263 Munster caps. His first Munster appearance came in August 1998 against Edinburgh Reivers. The Cork man also has 94 Irish caps, and four Lions test appearances.
He will go down in history as one of the most popular Munster players ever, known both for his dirty unseen work in the engine room, as well as his humour.
Munster will go into the season with Donnacha Ryan, Dave Foley, Mark Chisholm, Billy Holland, and academy players John Madigan and Sean McCarthy as their second row options.
