Wales' Dafydd Howells scored the fastest try in televised rugby history today in his side's IRB Junior World Championship match against Fiji in Pukekohe, New Zealand. The Ospreys wing burst through and touched down in just seven seconds after the Fijians botched their handling of the kick-off. From a defensive point of view, the try is a perfect example of why coaches bang on about restarts so much.
The previous fastest try record holder was Lee Blackett of Leeds Carnegie, who dotted down in just 8.28 seconds against Newcastle Falcons in 2008.

Wales went on to win the match 48-19. They will face Mike Ruddock's Ireland on Friday. The boys in green lost their tournament opener to France by 19-13.
