World Rugby has announced the referee appointments for the 2016 Six Nations.

Ireland's opening game of the tournament against Wales will see a reunion with an old friend from the World Cup - Jerome Garces.

The French man was in charge for Ireland's quarter-final loss to Argentina.

In all, Ireland will have three French officials along with a South African and a tournament debutant - Aussie Angus Gardner.

Ireland vs Wales - Jerome Garces (France)
France vs Ireland - Jaco Peyper (South Africa)
England vs Ireland - Romain Poite (France)
Ireland vs Italy - Angus Gardner (Australia)
Ireland vs Scotland - Pascal Gauzere (France)

Curiously, World Cup final referee Nigel Owens will only take charge of one game. The last match of the 2016 Six Nations between England and France.
