It hasn't taken long for Kane Douglas to go one step further on his road to the World Cup. The Ex-Leinster second row was released from his contract just a year into a three-year deal to allow him to return to Australia.
For the Australian national team to be able to pick him, Douglas needed to sign with one of their Super Rugby franchises.
As of this morning, Douglas is officially a Queensland Red. The struggling franchise has seen better days since their 2011 Super Rugby crown, but it's hoped that Douglas will provide some much needed ballast to the side who will be shorn of two Wallaby captains in Will Genia and James Horwill after the World Cup.
For Douglas, it means he'll be close to both his family and his partner's family as they are expecting their first child.
It's now only a matter of time before Michael Chieka calls up the lock that the ARU spent a lot of money on to bring home in time for the World Cup.
