It seems the guillotine is looming over Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson with widespread reports that the BBC will sack the presenter later today.

However the Telegraph are reporting that the station are keen to go ahead with more seasons of Top Gear and are rumoured to be looking towards Chris Evans as Clarkson's replacement.

Evans currently presents the breakfast show on BBC Radio 2 and certainly has the motoring credentials for the role. The former presenter of The Big Breakfast owns a £12m 1963 Ferrari and a €6.4m 1961 250 GT Spyder California SWB, along with a few other cars for good measure.

However, according to the Telegraph, Evans had already ruled himself out of the running - when Clarkson was rumoured to be getting sacked in September - so they may have a job on their hands trying to convince him otherwise. They are rumoured to be hoping that Evans will take over if Clarkson was to give him his blessing.

Evans is now evens favourite with Jodi Kidd second favourite at 5-2.
