Eric Cantona has pledged to swim the English Channel from France to England, but he requires your encouragement. Cantona, as part of a promotional video for the Kronenbourg 1664 lager, has pledged to swim the channel once 10,000 fans show their support by logging on to the lager's website and by using the quite excellent hashtag #LeBigSwim, proclaim that the beer he advertises is The Most Supreme Tasting Beer In The World.
It is, admittedly, a PR stunt by Cantona and Kronenbourg. But if the seagulls follow the trawler to sea in the expectation of sardines, I don't think there's much doubt as to what Cantona expects at the end of his swim.
We at Balls towers do not necessarily agree with this, but we can fully support the idea of Cantona swimming the channel. We quite like the idea of encouraging Cantona into the channel, without facing the repercussions that a certain Crystal Palace fan did when he last pointed the frenchman towards a much smaller body of water.
