While the Old Firm rivalry is undoubtedly one of the most infamous and ferocious in world sport, one would still have been surprised to see the matter crop up in the WWE this weekend - and Celtic did not hesitate to take a jab at their Glasgow counterparts Rangers

WWE's Friday Night Smackdown was making a special trip to Glasgow on Friday night, with the event coined 'The Clash at the Castle'. Despite all eyes being on Scottish Wrestler and Rangers superfan Drew McIntyre, it was CM Punk who stole the show with his tribute to Celtic.

As the stars looked set to align for McIntyre, who was just seconds away from winning the title in his home city, the injured CM Punk appeared as the referee, denying the Rangers man his win before sending him to his knees with an embarrassing kick in front of his home crowd.

Having ruined McIntyre's homecoming, Punk rubbed salt in his wounds with a glorious nod to McIntyre's love of Rangers, by sporting a Celtic Top in the post-match interviews.

With little surprise, Celtic didn't let the opportunity pass them by, making sure Glasgow knew exactly who they were supporting in the Clash at the Castle.

The Celtic faithful would've been particularly happy with Punk's post-match interview where, donning the famous green of Celtic he told reporters that:

He's never ever gonna be a champion here as long as I live....as long as there's air in my lungs, Drew McIntyre's never, and I promise you....he's never gonna be a champion ever again!
