Chicago Claim Stanley Cup With Incredible 17 Seconds Of Hockey

The Chicago Blackhawks claimed their second Stanley Cup in four seasons last night with an extraordinary comeback completed in the final 70 seconds of game six against the Boston Bruins.

It had seemed that the Bruins' goal with 8 minutes left in the third period to put them 2-1 up on the night, would send the series to a seventh game. But the Hawks scored twice in the space of 17 seconds with just over a minute left on the clock to claim the biggest prize in hockey.

Chicago became just the seventh team in history to win both the President’s Trophy as the NHL’s regular-season champions and the Stanley Cup in the same year, a measure of how richly deserved the victory was.
