It was an interesting weekend for the NFL, with big moves made in the play-off and MVP race. A man at the forefront of both is Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Watson is now third favourite in the running for MVP alongside Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson after leading the Texans to a 27-24 victory over the Oakland Raiders and it was one play in particular that proved his value.

The throw was a game-winning touchdown as he found Darren Fells in the fourth quarter but it was how he did it that was so remarkable. The 24-year-old spun out of what looked a certain sack before taking an accidental boot to the face. Watson adjusted his helmet, looked up and found his tight end.

It prompted Raiders head coach Jon Gruden to compare him to NBA legend Michael Jordan.

“What am I gonna say?” he said.

“You see Michael Jordan, some of the great athletic plays, you gotta tip your hat to the guy.”

Elsewhere, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was also showing his star conditionals.
