Oscar Gutierrez, better known to us as Rey Mysterio, is no longer part of the WWE.

The 619 specialist hasn't competed in a WWE ring since the 6th April 2014, after he sustained a wrist injury in his loss to Bad News Barrett. During his recuperation, it was reported that Mysterio wanted to leave the company but the promotion had extended his contract without his approval.

This infuriated the former Heavyweight and Tag team champion, leading to him to launch a year long #FreeRey campaign. This was ignored by Vince McMahon and co. despite the man in the mask going on to appear in a video for a rivals AAA, a Mexican owned wrestling company.

To be clear, he was not let out of his deal....His contract expired.

For us WWE fans, the illustrious 13 year career of one of the most entertaining superstars has come to an end. How can we ever forget the record he set at the Royal Rumble in 2006, when he entered second and went on to win. Let's relive that moment one more time.
