Connor 'The Crusher' Michalek is set to be the first recipient of 'The Warrior Award', named after the recently deceased WWE superstar The Ultimate Warrior.

It was announced on Monday Night Raw that Michalek, who passed away last year, would receive the award at this year's WWE Hall Of Fame (Night before Wrestlemania).

“Ultimate Warrior is an icon in our business,” said Stephanie McMahon, chief brand officer of WWE. “Warrior’s beliefs were to always believe in yourself and that’s why Connor Michalek is absolutely the correct person to receive this award.”

Conor had featured in the WWE on several occasions, most notably with Daniel Bryan, thanks to the Make-A-Wish foundation. His wish had been to make Bryan tap out, using his hero's own submission move.

Feeling invincible after making the champion concede defeat, the wrestling fan then set his eyes on the CEO of the company, and former wrestler, Triple H. Surrounded by the WWE roster, the young fighter knocked out the much disliked boss before pinning him.

Dana Warrior, Ultimate Warriors wife, believed that 'The Crusher' was the perfect recipient for such a prestigious award. “Connor displayed all of the positive traits that Warrior stood for, and he is the perfect recipient for this inaugural award. I am sure that Warrior is smiling today, knowing that this award is being given to a true warrior.”
