Lebron James is now 33 years old. The Cleveland Cavaliers star's birthday was yesterday and he spoke to the media, in his usual entertaining fashion, after their 104-101 loss to Utah Jazz.

James has one of the most interesting stories in sports history. One of the greatest players of all time, James grew up in deprived circumstances, living with his mother in some of the worst projects in Ohio. After being spotted on a street corner, James was invited to play American football.

A former coach told a story that James was so good that opposing teams used to accuse him of being overage. In response, James developed a fake hunchback. The coach confronted him and asked what he was doing. When James explained he was trying to fit in, the coach responded:

boy, you aint ever going to blend in. And that’s a good thing.

That was an accurate prediction, James was on the cover of Sports Illustrated at 16. It wasn't always beneficial to be so well recognised though, as he explained to the press yesterday.

It must have taken a brave bouncer to turn him away. In any event, It'll come as a relief to many to know they weren't the only ones who had difficulty getting into night clubs underage.
