Sophomore quarterback Patrick Mahomes etched himself into history today with the Kansas City Chiefs as the youngster threw for his 10th touchdown this season, a new record in the NFL.

For the followers of the Chiefs, the only solace to last season's decline of Alex Smith and playoff disappointment was the young gunslinger they had drafted as their quarterback in waiting. Still, there was concern with how Mahomes would fair this year. Two games in, Andy Reid's team are 2-0 and Mahomes is establishing himself as one of the best passers in the league.

Mahomes bucks the trend of NFL quarterbacks. The 22-year-old is a deep passer in an increasingly short-range world.

With two go-to options in Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, the famous Reid offense line looks ready to rock once again this campaign.
