On WWE Raw last night, Dean Ambrose retained his WWE Championship belt.

There was real confusion about how it happened though.

At the conclusion of the bout, both Seth Rollins and Ambrose ended up with their shoulders on the canvas - a double pin.

However, initially, Stephanie McMahon declared Rollins the winner. This was something which Shane McMahon disagreed with.

As the Raw broadcast finished, there was still uncertainty about who was WWE Champion.

On the WWE Network - in a visibly cynical move to drive viewership towards the brand's channel - that was cleared up when footage of the referee reviewing the replay of finish aired. He declared that both Rollins and Ambrose had been pinned simultaneously - a draw. It meant Ambrose retained the title.

Rollins gets another shot at the title this weekend when he takes on Ambrose in a Triple Threat Match which also includes Roman Reigns.
