Having been largely vindicated in his promotion of the returning Tyson Fury, famed promoter Frank Warren has been taking some time to needle his primary British counterpart, Eddie Hearn.

Ahead of Fury's bout with Wilder in Los Angeles, Hearn had been unwavering in his public criticism of the fight. Admittedly suggesting that he had been mistaken in the immediate aftermath of an exciting contest, this clearly hasn't been enough to appease Warren.

Speaking to The Times, the seasoned promoter has questioned the validity of Hearn's position in the promotion of Anthony Joshua, claiming that the real power lies elsewhere.

"People need to hear this, and on the record," Warren stated.

"It’s Eddie Hearn’s father, Barry Hearn, who runs that business.

"The kid just goes off talking rubbish. He has an ego which is awful. If he was my kid, I’d slap him down."

Admitting that he has "never spoken to Eddie Hearn," Warren, perhaps with one eye on a prospective fight between Fury and the current unified heavyweight champ Joshua, was keen to ridicule his judgement.

"He annoyed me," Warren said.

"He said the fight between Wilder and Fury would never happen; he said we had only sold 8,000 seats; he said it would be a boring fight. Wrong on all counts. Fake news."

With a rematch between Fury and Wilder seemingly on the cards in early 2019, the plans for what will come thereafter appear to be in full flow.
