10 Years On, We Remember The Ultimate Shithousing Pepe Performance

The noble art of shithousing is one that is underrated in the world of football. Not every team has a shithouser in their squad, but those that do treasure them. They get under the skin of your opponents, while also often lifting their teammates when they need it most.

Diego Costa is the perfect example. He has shown during his time at Atletico Madrid and Chelsea that he is a master of the craft. Sergio Ramos is another example, while Vinnie Jones was a trailblazer back in the day.

However, when it comes to the title of ultimate shithouser, there is only one man for the job: Pepe. The former Real Madrid defender is the best of the best when it comes to simultaneously giving his team a rise by being a bit of a bollocks to the opposition.

Today marks the 10-year anniversary of perhaps his trademark performance. The best part is, he manages to encapsulate his entire personality in the space of around a minute.

The opponent was Getafe, and the performance was magnificent. A bit of a bastard yes, but you can't help but admire watching a master at work. Sit and back and enjoy this.

Lets sum this one up shall we? He starts by kicking his opponent in the back when he is on the ground, not once, but twice. Standard behaviour. But that was not enough for Pepe, not on this day. The red card was already given, may as well go for it.

Next was the digging of the head into the ground. Make the most of it when you have him on the ground I suppose. The not so subtle double stamp was next, first on the abdomen and then the leg.

When a pair of Getafe player came into his firing line, they were next. A quick one-two combo meant he managed to crack both of them on the face. He then went back for one more go at the lad on the ground before finally making his way off the pitch.

Amazing. If there's a better shithousing performance out there, we haven't seen it.
