It looks like Manchester United's Jose Mourinho is beginning his backroom staff shuffle in the wake of longtime assistant Rui Faria announcing his exit from the club. Man United

After previously saying that he would not seek another coach to replace the outgoing Faria, the Portugese manager has stated that he is reshuffling his backroom staff, hinting that he is set to hire someone he has worked with before. Mourinho stopped short of naming the addition:

...It’s a person coming who worked with me before but I can’t say the name because he’s still linked to another club.

I do not like trained coaches, I like to shape them in my way of thinking and they grow with me and I also grow with them.

A report from Calciomercato has said that the man Mourinho wants to join United is outgoing Sampdoria fitness coach Stephen Rapetti, whom Mourinho previously worked with at Inter Milan.

Sampdoria coach Marco Giampaolo has recently confirmed in a press conference that Rapetti will leave the Serie A side at the end of the season. Rapetti joined the club with Giampaolo in 2016.

Mourinho is also promoting the retired Michael Carrick to his backroom staff as well as United U18s coach Kieran McKenna, but also wants Rapetti to join him in Manchester.

On his exit from the club, Faria cited the need to spend more time with his family as well as seeking a new challenge as the reason for his decision:

After a lot of consideration, and with a very heavy heart, I have decided the time is right for me to move on. I have had 17 years of incredible and unforgettable experiences. However, I have felt for some time that I would like to spend much more quality time with my family before pursuing any new challenge in my professional life.
