Should Allan McGregor have seen red for this?

Today marked the first Old Firm game of a new era of Scottish football, as Steven Gerrard seeks to bring an end to the dominance of Brendan Rodgers' Celtic team. Ultimately the old guard prevailed thanks to a Olivier Ntcham goal midway through the second half and Gerrard suffered the first defeat of his new career.

Naturally for the first Old Firm of the season, there was some feisty challenged throughout. Scott Brown picked up the most predictable booking of the season after 10 minutes, but the main talking point was an incident involving Allan McGregor.

The Rangers goalkeeper was lucky to not have received his marching orders in the first half after he appeared to kick out at  Celtic's Kristoffer Ajer during a tangle.

After clearing the danger from a Celtic attack, he seemed to clearly lash out at the Norwegian.

Luckily for him, the officials did not spot the incident. Had they done so, he surely would have received a red card.

The reaction from those watching the game was exactly as you would expect.

Despite a good start to the season, Rangers' disciplinary record has been a problem.

Alfredo Morelos was sent off after 12 minutes of their opening SPL game against Aberdeen, while both Morelos and John Flanagan saw red in the Europa League clash with FC Ufa.
