Falling a goal behind to bottom-of-the-league Dundee within 10-minutes of their Scottish Premiership clash, that the goalscorer Kenny Miller is around 6-months older than the Rangers boss can't have but irked Steven Gerrard.

Although the Glasgow side would equalise shortly thereafter, they could do no more. Despite Dundee playing the guts of 70-minutes with 10-men, Gerrard was left lingering over the reasons why his team couldn't build on their impressive defeat of Hearts last weekend.

Wondering why such contrary performances had come from the same side, Gerrard ultimately put it down to the lacking of a characteristic he had in spades during his own playing-career.

"I'm really shocked and surprised at what I'm seeing," Gerrard said in a discussion to the club's in-house media.

"Seven days ago we get a fantastic result against Hearts, and then none of the players look like the players were with us seven days ago.

"I'm seeing players make bad decision after bad decision, I see a team that's not carrying out a game plan.

Asked what he expected to find when he went back to analyse today's failings, Gerrard was quick to respond; "I don't really think I have to go away and analyse it, I've just seen it with my own eyes and we've just done everything wrong again."

Visiting Dundee who started at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership this afternoon, Gerrard was less than impressed coming "to places like this" and only leaving with a point.

In speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Gerrard was no less unforgiving.

"We didn't look like a Rangers team, and individually they didn't look like Rangers players," Gerrard surmised.

"We kept making stupid decisions on the pitch ... so it's not surprise with the result, because our performance didn't deserve a result today."

Regarding those players who have again suffered Gerrard's ire, the Rangers boss offered a sobering message: "We never got a reaction today, they've been given plenty of chances and maybe that has to stop."

"People got a run out today and a test, and failed miserably," Gerrard remarked.

"So we'll try to pick a team that's capable of getting a result on Thursday."
