Liam Sheedy has been appointed Tipperary Senior Hurling Manager for 2019 on a three-year term.

The news was confirmed by Tipperary GAA who released a statement confirming Sheedy's appointment while a backroom team is to be put forward for ratification to the October County Board Committee Meeting.

Sheedy led the Premier County to an All-Ireland in 2010 and emerged as a shock contender for the job last week. He returns to the position after Michael Ryan resigned earlier this year.

Sheedy has remained heavily involved in the game, having served as a selector with Antrim while also featuring as a pundit on the Sunday Game. He is also a former Tipperary senior hurler and will be charged with steadying the ship after the county disappointed in this year's new Munster championship format.

Elsewhere, it was also confirmed by the county board that Liam Kearns will continue his two-year term as Tipperary senior football manager.
