Considering that the first half finished level at a measly two points apiece, Corofin firing over three points in five minutes just after the break made you think they had already built up an unassailable, three-point lead against Moorefield.

They would require a little bit more than that to overcome the Kildare and Leinster champions.

Tied at six points each with just under 90 seconds of normal time remaining, Corofin put together the move of the game to seal the win. It was a goal, finished by Liam Silke, which put some makeup on this pig of a game.

The goal may have made missing today's Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup final a little bit more palatable for Silke. The young Galway player has been a key player for UCD throughout this year's tournament.

Corofin overcame some serious adversity to claim the victory and a place in the St. Patrick's Day final. Just a minute into the game, the Galway side had full-forward Martin Farragher sent-off. It was an undoubtedly poor decision by referee Derek O'Mahoney.

O'Mahoney appeared to believe that Farragher had made contact with the head of Moorefield's Liam Healy with his knee. If there was any contact at all, it was minimal.

Considering that they played the better football, it was a deserved 1-6 to 0-6 win for Corofin.
